Frostbike 2013: Fly Bikes

Fly Bikes BMX

Making the rounds, I stopped by the Fly Bikes booth to say what’s up to U.S team manager, John Povah, and take a look at what they had on display. Fly have always done an amazing job to focus on quality and aesthetics of things, so it’s always a treat looking at their stuff in person. They’ve got a few changes for 2013 as well, so let’s take a look!

The updated Montana (Stefan Lantschner), Trueno (Sergio Layos) and Isla (Shane Weston) signature frames. Stefan and Sergio’s frames have some light changes in the geometry and color options and Shane’s frame is all new. I’m loving that sparkle black colorway.

I’m a big fan of Fly’s attention to brakes. Their fresh Classico brakes matched up with their unique bridge cable system with the micro barrel adjuster and everything makes for some real dialed brakes. If I remember right they’re now offering a lower end kit that includes everything you need for a brake setup which is cool too.

The classic Ruben pedals. Available in metal and plastic versions.

I could have swore I took more photos of the new stainless steel colorway that Fly offers. I’m absolutely LOVING this color. They’ve got this color available for their forks cranks and a few other bits as well. If I had the money laying around to build up a new bike it would be based around this color, haha.

The Fly complete bikes are so dialed. I would have loved to run one of these when I started riding… Would have made life so much easier.

Forgot to adjust the depth of field for these photos… My bad. Front and topload stems!

You will be seeing a ton more of Fly’s tripod seat and post system this year. There’s a bunch of other brands that got licensing to use this system.

That wraps up what Fly Bikes had on display at Frostbike. You can find out more about the brand their products by visiting their website — FlyBikes.com. You can also have your local shop here in the U.S get you Fly products ordered from QBMX!
