One more

I read somewhere that most blogs fail within the first 3 months, similar to most businesses in the first 5 years. That got me thinking, this blog is still around after 3 months does that mean it is “smooth sailing” for me? Ha!
Blogging is so rediculous.. I have been doing a personal research project that nobody knows about till well, now.
When I was in Mass Communications first semester last fall, I was given the semester to do a project on “Online Advertising” well, being slightly nerdy at the time I was super pumped. I did the opposite of the project, I was suppossed to research other things and figure out how the internet has advertising and what makes it tick. I took the next step and created a website, got content, got visitors, and tried to see what could be made from the interweb.

Once the project was done, I couldn’t get it out of my mind how interesting blogging and just the difficulty it is to get your writing coverage. So I started in on a new project, “how the hell do you get visitors to your blog” which has been about a eight month project for me.

So after pouring hour after hour of my life into the internet, my result? 80,000 visitors to my BMXunion.com blog. I am bummed because the sad thing is, there are websites out there that do that in one day. However, these sites are more broad to a bigger audience. I want to figure out how all of that works. I mean I have a good idea of what to do, but it is such a pain in the ass to get listed in directories and on search engines, I average about 45-50 visitors a day just from search engines on my other site which isn’t much.

I want to learn how these people do viral videos on youtube, I mean obviously it is pointless now because everyone and their mother tries that trick but I think it would be cool to pull that one off.

So here is my propsal, by the end of the summer. I have to find a way to create something that gets me viral views. I am on this.

Oh by the way, my kind of nerdy self has been upgraded to pathetic nerd. I spend way too much time on a computer but it is a legit “business” for me now so I keep chugging away with it..
